Dr. Maroula G. Kokotou

Dr. Maroula Kokotou is an Assistant Professor of Organic Chemical Analysis and Organic Chemistry at the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition of the Agricultural University of Athens. She graduated in 2008 from the Department of Chemistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and holds two postgraduate diplomas from AUA and NKUA. In 2014, she completed her doctoral studies specializing in chemical analysis using mass spectrometry.

She carried out postdoctoral research at the Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine, University of California at San Diego (under Prof. Edward Dennis), as well as at NKUA and Harokopio University. She is the author/co-author of 75 articles in international peer-reviewed journals (h-index 24) with over 68 published conference papers.

She is recipient of several awards: the “Leonidas Zervas” Award from the Academy of Athens (2018), the National Council of Greek Women Award (2019), and the L’Oréal-UNESCO Award for Women in Science (2023). In 2020, she was included in the Stanford University list of top 2% researchers worldwide.
