Dr. Aimilia (Emilia) Papakonstantinou

Dr. Aimilia (Emilia) Papakonstantinou is Associate Professor of Nutrition and Metabolism in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), Greece. She holds a degree in Dietetics–Nutrition and an MSc in Dietetics–Nutrition Science from the University of Georgia (USA), and a PhD in Dietetics–Nutrition Science from Harokopio University, Greece. She is a licensed Dietitian–Nutritionist.

She currently serves as Director of the Laboratory of Dietetics and Quality of Life (since 2022) and Vice-Chair of the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition (since 2025). She is Treasurer of the Hellenic Nutrition Society and has held leadership roles in national and European scientific organizations, including the European Federation of the Associations of Dietitians.

Her research focuses on functional foods, dietary patterns, meal timing (chrononutrition), and their effects on glucose metabolism, satiety, cardiometabolic risk, and stress markers. Her work includes randomized clinical trials investigating glycemic responses and metabolic effects of foods and nutrients. She participates in major European research initiatives including PRIMA MED4CITRUS, EU CONEXUS PLUS, and Horizon SWEET. She has delivered over 180 invited presentations at national and international conferences, authored 18 book chapters, and published 56 peer-reviewed scientific articles (h-index 22, ~1,770 citations).
